ELA Product Development
We hired a new product manager to help us add ELA to our stable of subjects. We went out into the field and interviewed ten English teachers that taught writing. We came back to the office and unpacked what we learned using Empathy Mapping and formulated problem statements.
I started sketching as we all ideated and brainstormed. We took the sketches back to our interviewees and got feedback and I iterated my way into a lo-fi Balsamiq prototype. We took that back out into the field and to other teachers and continued to iterate.
Next I prototyped the student experience in iRise, and we tested with students and iterated some more.
Eventually the team started developing and released the ELA product below.
During beta tests, one teacher said her students asked to stay in from recess to keep writing.
